Deoriatal – Chopta – Tungnath – Chandrishila Trek.
This is the trek that involves Himalayan culture, breath-taking landscapes, rivers, waterfalls, nature trails, snow covered Himalayan peaks, temples, summit experience, Flora & Fauna.
Haridwar is regarded as one of the seven Holiest places of Hindus. Kumbha Mela the Biggest festival on Earth is celebrated here every 12 years. Where, millions of pilgrims, devotees, and tourists congregate in Haridwar from all over the World to perform ritualistic bathing on the banks of river Ganges to wash away their sins to attain Moksha. Brahma Kund, the spot where the Amrit fell, is located at Har ki Pauri (literally means, footsteps of the Lord) and is considered to be the most Sacred ghat of Haridwar. Haridwar is also the meeting place of Swamis, Gurus, Sadhus, Yoga and Ayurvedic masters living in ashrams and temples.
Devprayag is quite popular among tourists, pilgrims and those who come to seek some solitude close to nature. Marked by the confluence point of rivers Alaknanda and Bhagirathi, to be called Ganga.. So, its here where the name Ganga starts.
Ukhimath is a small Holy town. Situated at an elevation of 1311 meters and 41 km from Rudraprayag. During the winters, the idols from Kedarnath temple, and Madhyamaheshwar are brought to Ukhimath and worshipped here for six months.
Sari village is a beautiful little Hill village with small 30 families living in traditional Garhwali style houses. They grow their own vegetables and rear buffaloes & goats for milk. Sari village can be used as base destination for visiting different places located nearby, i.e. Madhmaheshwar
Rishikesh town is nestled around the Ganga as it runs swiftly through the last hills of the Himalayas. Geoffrey Moorhouse described Rishikesh as a cross between Blackpool and Lourdes. In 1968 the famous Beatles stayed here & penned many famous songs. Now it has been promoted as the Yoga capitol of the World.
Day 1. Delhi – Haridwar (205 kms / 5 hours) :
Early morning drive / board flight to Haridwar. Welcome on arrival & check into hotel. Post lunch, we walk through the market to take a cable car to a mountain temple, Mansa Devi. Evening time visit the Ghat for the famous Ganga aarti ceremony. Night stay at hotel.
Day 2. Haridwar – Deoprayag – Rudraprayag (168 kms / 5 hours) :
Early morning drive via Deoprayag (the place where the 2 rivers Alaknanda & Bhagirathi meet to be called Ganga). Proceed drive to Srinagar for Lunch & proceed to Rudraprayag for Night stay at hotel.
Day 3. Rudraprayag – Kartik Swami temple Trek (3050 mtrs) – Rudraprayag (40 kms drive & 3 kms trek, one side) :
After early breakfast, one and half hour driving to a tiny little hamlet named Kanak Chauri, where there are just a few shops lined up. From here we will do a 2 hours trek (each side) to reach the Kartik Swami Temple from where you can have a 180° view, with view of many of the famous Himalayan peaks of the Garhwal Himalayan region. There we will stay for meditation, prayer or just relax & enjoy the breathtaking views of the Mighty Himalayas… Later proceed down to Rudraprayag. Enroute we will explore the place of confluence of the 2 rivers Alakananda and Mandakini. Back to the hotel in Rudraprayag for night stay.
Day 4. Rudraprayag – Ukhimath – Sari (3 hours drive).
Morning after breakfast we drive to Ukhimath. Where we visit a 1000 years old colourful rock temple which is the winter home for all the High Himalayan Shiva idols (including Kedarnath & Madhmaheshwar). Upon arrival check in at a simple lodge / camp at the remote mountain village called Sari. Overnight stay.
Day 5. Sari – Deoriatal (2440m – (2 & 1/2 kms trek / time 1 & 1/2 hrs) :
After an early morning breakfast walkthrough the Sari village. Sari is a beautifully situated village with typical Garhwali style stone houses with front wooden carved doors. We visit the village & see their lifestyle. Later, proceed trek to Deoriatal. The trail goes past the village fields and into the well leveled trail up the mountain. It’s gradual uphill all the way with beautiful views of the facing valley & the high Himalayas. Once on top, we reach the beautiful lake of Deoriatal. A beautiful sight of more than 200 kms of the Majestic Himalayan peaks. Here we have a mirror reflection of the Mighty Himalayan range on the lake. A great opportunity for Nature lovers & photographers alike. Later, proceed further our beautiful trek to a mountain top, along the ridge. After enjoying the breath-taking views, we trek back, down to Sari village. Overnight in lodge / tents.
Day 6. Sari – Chopta (3000m) – Tungnath (3680m) – Chandrashila (4090mtrs) – Chopta – Sari (20 kms drive & trek 3 kms one side) :
Early morning drive & proceed trek from Chopta. Start climb up to the temple of Tungnath (Highest Shiva temple in the World). Tungnath has definitely a certain Mystical/Religious aspect which is quite based on the spectacular surrounding and views from there. Located in an idyllic setting having beautiful Himalayan meadows. Where, during the trek you can find shepherds herding sheep on the high grasslands. After visit to the Tungnath Temple and enjoying the beauty of the Himalayan meadows, continue further to Chandrashila (4090mtrs). The climb to this summit (depending upon snow) gives you the most breathtaking 360 degrees view of the Himalayan Peaks. After spending time at the Summit, we trek down to Chopta to drive back to Sari village for overnight stay in lodge/ tent.
Day 7. Sari – Rishikesh (8 hours drive) :
After breakfast we proceed drive down via Rudraprayag, Srinagar to Rishikesh. Visit Ramjhula & proceed for Ganga ceremony at the famous Parmarth ashram. Dinner & overnight at Hotel.
